The Green Bay Packers cut Martellus Bennett earlier this week with a failure to disclose a medical condition designation and now it’s turning into a very awkward situation.

Less than 24 hours after Bennett was cut by the Packers the 30-year-old was claimed by his former team, the New England Patriots, and he took to Instagram to rant about his former team and mentioned that they tried to force him to play through a major injury, in reference to his torn rotator cuff.

Here’s what he had to say, with all the expletives edited.

"The Packers examined my shoulder March 10 and cleared it. They even gave me an xray as well. It got worse during the season, specifically against the cowboys so I asked to have it checked and we checked it. After a few days of contemplating to play with it or get surgery, I chose surgery. Now here we are ...

"They tried to f*** over me. Dr. McKenzie trying to cover his own a**. After trying to persuade me to play thru a major injury and me choosing to get surgery.

"Every week we do a body evaluation sheet in the weight and pretty much every week I circled my shoulder. I just kept playing but it got worse.

"During the bye week I got off anti inflammatories to clean my system and could really feel the pain. So I asked to examine it first day back in. And that's when we found out it was really f***ed up.

They knew."

A few hours after Bennett went on his Instagram rant accusing the Packers’ doctor of forcing him to play through a major injury, veterans Jordy Nelson and Aaron Rodgers took to their social accounts to defend Dr. McKenzie and said he would never pressure a player to return to action if they weren’t ready to go.

Both Rodgers and Nelson have experienced season-ending injuries over their time in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers and have returned to their old form without any issues, so it’s clear that they trust their team doctors and are going to back them until the end.

We may never know the truth behind this entire scenario, but Bennett has promised to share the entire story with his fans sometime in the near future.
