Valentine’s Day is a day for couples to celebrate their love for each other, so it’s a given that not everyone is going to get to celebrate on February 14 every single year. However, over the years some people have broken the traditional couple celebration and have used the day to celebrate their love for their friends and those closest to them.

Since the Pittsburgh Penguins don’t play again until Saturday afternoon, the players have plenty of free time to celebrate Valentine’s Day with their significant other. Well, for Phil Kessel and some of the other guys, Valentine’s Day meant spending the day together.

Kessel shared a few photos of himself alongside Evgeni Malkin, Matt Cullen and Patric Hornqvist, and mentioned that they were his Valentine’s today on the special day.

As for the awesome throwback outfits, it just so happens to be the night for the team's annual Pens Night of Assists, so it's only tradition that they snapped a team photo in their attire.
