Shortstop Brendan Rodgers started the season as the Colorado Rockies’ top prospect and it didn’t take them very long to give him a shot in the big leagues. In 35 Triple-A games this season, the 22-year-old crushed nine home runs and 21 RBI to go with a .356 batting average and a .421 OBP, and he’s off to a nice start through his first handful of MLB games.

The Winter Park, Florida native entered Friday night’s tilt with the Baltimore Orioles with four RBI through his first four games and added his fifth RBI in as many games in the bottom of the fifth inning. But he hasn’t just been putting his hitting abilities on display, he’s’ been putting on a show on defence, too.

In the top half of the fifth, Rodgers did a good job tracking down a pop fly in foul territory and put his body on the line to come up with the catch.

Rodgers earned himself quite the ovation from the Rockies faithful and rightfully so.
