The Washington Capitals were probably thinking they would do something a little fun at practice today, which basically amounted to abject terror for Ryan Zimmerman.

The current free agent, who has played his entire 15-year MLB career thus far with the Nationals, was their guest in goal, and he was subjected to a shootout against Caps players as well as one-timers from Alex Ovechkin. What a way to be initiated into the game.

Yeah, it doesn’t sound like Zimmerman is going to try this again. That’s okay, champ. You’ve got a World Series ring to fall back on.

We’ll just also note that Capitals practice seems to be a blast this year. Just a while back, somebody gifted Jonas Siegenthaler this insanely, completely unnecessarily long hockey stick. It is definitely of no use, but it’s hilarious.
