This year's World Juniors final was an instant classic.

The story of redemption for a Canadian team that had been romped by the Russians earlier in the tournament, paired with a golden goal in the dying minutes of a tie game by Canadian Akil Thomas, all made for a game that will be etched in Canadian hockey history forever.

While we thought that was obvious right away, apparently, many Russian fans actually thought that their team had won the tournament.

This might seem like an impossible thing to confuse, but Slava Malamud took to Twitter to explain the unfortunate and curious tale of why many people in Russia thought their boys had brought home all the marbles.

While at first we thought it impossible, we definitely understand the confusion here.
