Sports are all about rivalry. Teams that play each other often, or are geographically close together, often experience bitter rivalries. Even within the teams, players have individual rivalries that are almost always a treat to watch.

And then there’s mascot/player rivalries which are debatably the best (and the least serious).

Toronto Blue Jays fans may remember all the dust-ups former slugger Jose Bautista used to get in whenever he ended up in Philadelphia. The Phillie Phanatic would ruthlessly pester the Jays’ outfielder, but Joey Bats would give it right back as well.

We’ve got a new one – and it comes from the newest mascot in the MLB, Blooper.

Blooper is the Atlanta Braves biggest fan, and he shows it by constantly getting into it with San Diego Padres star Manny Machado whenever he’s in the park. Just like Bats did with the Phanatic, Machado gives it right back as well.

It starts with the classic “what’s on your shirt” prank.

Then it gets into a little more elaborate stuff…

No tip? Blooper takes matters into his own hands.

Has it blossomed into full on friendship? We’re thinking maybe…
