We’ve been seeing a lot more goalie goals this hockey season than we have in the past. Or at least, it certainly seems so. It’s almost as though every week there is a new video emerging of a goalie potting a full ice shot onto an empty net, and then heading to the bench for some high fives.
There was something a little different about Atte Tolvanen’s goal on Friday night, though. Tolvanen grabbed the loose puck, and with insane efficiency he showed off a wicked quick release.
The result of this quick release, a perfectly laid saucer that cleared the defenceman, landing on the ice and sliding into the net, dead centre. It doesn’t get much more perfect than that.
Honestly, we all know some teammates that play forward and can’t shoot the puck that well. Maybe they can try stopping pucks instead, this Tolvanen guy needs a shot on offence.
