Things went from bad, to worse for the San Jose Sharks during Game 5 on Sunday afternoon.

With an opportunity to take a 3-2 series lead heading into Game 6, San Jose completely crumbled, allowing five goals against in a 5-0 loss at the SAP Center. The Sharks were out-shot 40-21 and as the game neared its conclusion, tempers flared. Numerous players received game misconducts and that, combined with a series of injuries made the team’s bench looked like something out of a beer league hockey game.

Literally, take a look.

There's no one there!!!!

Let’s breakdown what exactly happened. A couple of game misconducts were awarded in the third, the first to Michael Haley for unsportsmanlike conduct on Alex Petrieangelo and the second to Evander Kane for a slash on Joel Edmundson.  As for the others, Erik Karlsson, Tomas Hertl and Joe Pavelski, three of the team’s BEST players, all left with ailments of their own. Joonas Donskoi also briefly left but was later able to return.

Game 6 is set to take place on Tuesday night and with elimination once again staring the Sharks in the face this postseason, they’ll need all the bodies they can get. A win would send the Sharks to their third consecutive Game 7 and one win away from reaching their second Stanley Cup Final in franchise history.
