In what’s been a season to forget so far for the Edmonton Oilers, team captain Connor McDavid has been one of its few bright spots.

The 20-year-old has unquestionably been the team’s best player, scoring 11 goals and 24 assists in 29 games; 14 more than teammates Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. As it currently stands, the Richmond Hill, Ontario native is tied for ninth in total points with St. Louis Blues forward Jaden Schwartz.

‘McJesus’ has been a constant force for the Oilers since joining the organization as the 2015 draft’s number one pick. In just his second season, he managed to capture the Art Ross, Hart, and Ted Lindsay trophies. McDavid is a part of the game’s elite crop, but one thing that has separated him from the rest has been his unthinkable consistency. Over the course of his 156 game career, the forward has never gone more than two regular season contests without a point.

He may be young but 156 games is nothing to sneeze at. To give you some perspective on the stat, Sidney Crosby had two three-game point-less stretches through his first two seasons in the league.

McDavid has accounted for a ridiculous amount of his team’s offence but it still hasn’t proven to be enough. Edmonton currently sits second last in the Pacific division with a 12-15-2 record and already appears to be in jeopardy of missing the postseason. Before you jump to conclusions about the team, just make sure that you don’t let their lack of wins take away from the consistency McDavid has shown throughout both the season, and his career.
