The Vancouver Canucks took Swedish forward Elias Pettersson with the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft and the 18-year-old has shown why he was taking so early over the past few weeks.

From the Canucks Summer Showdown prospects game to regular season games overseas the Swedish Hockey League, the Sundsvall, Sweden native has been putting his slick hands on display for everyone to see and he looks like he’s going to do some serious damage when he gets called up to the NHL.

In a recent game against Frölunda HC, Pettersson was left all alone in front of the net and he made them pay with his quick hands.

The Växjö Lakers HC forward his playing his first season in the Swedish Hockey League and he’s already made a few appearances on the highlight reel. Pettersson has proven on multiple occasions that he’s one of the last players you want to leave all alone in front of the net, and he’s also going to be a real threat in the shootout when he joins the Canucks.

Pettersson won over the hearts of a lot of Canucks fans the night he was drafted, even fans that have never seen him play before, and it was all because of a video that showed his reaction to his brother celebrating his big night.

The 2017 fifth overall draft pick will be 19 in November and will probably be a well-known name in the NHL in the near future.
