The Carolina Hurricanes are preparing to bring back the franchise’s old Hartford Whalers uniform at home tomorrow night against Boston Bruins but one of the organization’s former players doesn’t agree with how things are being done.

Glen Wesley, who played three seasons for the Whalers and 10 for the Hurricanes after their relocation took to Twitter to express how and where the jerseys should be worn. Instead of simply rocking them at home, the 50-year-old insisted the game should actually be played in Hartford against either their rival Bruins or New York Rangers. If that idea wasn’t crazy (/cool) enough, he also suggested playing it outdoors.

Imagine that!

The Whalers were once upon a time a dominant force in hockey. Though they never captured a cup during their time in the NHL (1979-1997), they managed to win an Avco World Trophy as a member of the WHA in 1973. To this day, their iconic blue, green and white jerseys are viewed as some of the greatest in NHL history.

Hartford doesn’t appear to be getting a team back anytime soon but the players are evidently excited to rock their new colours. Goaltender Petr Mrazek shared his new gear out on Instagram and they look nothing short of stunning. Just look at those leg pillows!
