Things got heated last night at the Honda Center between the Anaheim Ducks and Columbus Blue jackets, as Pierre-Luc Dubois and Andrew Cogliano got into it mid-game. The referees appeared to have the tilt under control, but that didn’t stop Ducks defenceman Cam Fowler from intervening, who attempted to come to his teammate’s rescue. The only issue was that he completely missed and went airborne for nearly two seconds.

Here’s a look from a different angle.

It’s been a strange week for fighting in the NHL, as fans have been exposed to some peculiar situations. Take the Boston Bruins vs. Pittsburgh Penguins game for example, which featured two of the NHL’s tallest players go toe-to-toe.

A tale of two towers

Phil Kessel even found himself in the scrum and potentially seconds away from receiving a fistful from his old teammate Zdeno Chara.

Oh no Phil, what is you doin? 😂

Fowler’s intentions were in the right place, it’s just unfortunate that his follow through wasn’t. At least he managed to avoid the dreaded face-plant at the very end.
