The Vancouver Canucks selected Michael DiPietro with the 64th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft and signed the 19-year-old goalie to a three-year entry-level contract this past May.

DiPietro spent the previous three seasons with the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL where he posted a 2.55 goals against average and posted 75 wins and 15 shutouts in 136 games. Looking to take the next step in his professional hockey career this upcoming season, the Windsor, Ontario native decided it was time for a brand new look.

Today we have the honor to unleash Mike DiPietro’s first Canucks mask🐳👊🏻. It was very exciting to paint this Storyteller piece to you Deeps, welcome to the DaveArt Family🙏🏻😊! I cant wait to create all your future masks... This bucket is a true storyteller📕, the more you look at it the more details you will discover, and the mask enters a new dimension of detail work👀🔍... One thing Mike knew was he wanted to pay tribute to Broncos on the mask❤️.... Mike and I brainstormed a lot how to build the design, we wanted mountains in the design, and the orca... All created in a new way. We came up with a design plan and I picked up my airbrush guns and let them get to work🤓💪🏻. Thanks Mike! #mikedipietro @canucks @nhl @daveart #DaveArtTheStoryteller #DaveArtTheCradleOfCreativity @theahl @uticacomets @bauergoalie #DaveArtThePaintNerd

The 2017 Memorial Cup winner turned to famous goalie mask artist David Gunnarsson, also known as daveart, for something special for his first NHL mask. While he wasn’t exactly sure what he wanted when he first approached Gunnarsson, he knew that he did want to have some sort of Humboldt Broncos tribute, which is featured on the right side of his mask.

The left side of his mask includes a shoutout to Riverdale’s ‘Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe’, which is filmed at Rocko’s Family Diner in BC, and also includes the Amherstburg shield.
