A lot of football and baseball fans were a little confused on Wednesday they heard the news that Russell Wilson had been traded to the New York Yankees.

Yes, that Russell Wilson.

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2007 MLB Draft and went on to play in the Colorado Rockies’ farm system from 2010-2011 before going back to school and eventually pursuing his NFL career.

In 2013, Wilson’s rights were dealt to the Texas Rangers in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft and he ended up attending spring training in both 2014 and 2015. On Wednesday, Wilson’s rights were dealt to the Yankees, who will assign him to their Double-A affiliate.

There were a lot of great reactions to the news but the best one of all came from Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia.

We’re not expecting Wilson to spend any significant time with the Yankees organization after spring training wraps up, but you never know.
