Drake Caggiula gained a lot of attention following his outstanding performance during his senior year at the University of North Dakota and he ended up choosing the Edmonton Oilers.

Earlier this week, the 23-year-old Pickering, Ontario native played in his 100th career NHL game in Los Angeles, but it wasn’t until his 101st career game in Anaheim where he experienced a career first.

During the second period of Friday night’s game against the Anaheim Ducks, Caggiula took a puck to the face in the second period of play and did not return to the game. Here’s the result.

For the first time in his young career, the Oilers winger lost some teeth due to a hockey related incident and is caption for the post was on point.

As expected after looking at those photos, Caggiula will not be in the Oilers’ lineup in San Jose on Saturday night, but here’s hoping he has a speedy recovery and gets back on the ice in no time.
