Tonight, NBA veteran Dwight Howard partook in his first dunk competition since 2009. It was the fourth one he's ever participated in.

Of course, his most notable one was in 2008, when he won the contest and infamously did it in a Superman costume.

Tonight, he brought back the old classic - with a touching twist.

The 34-year-old rocked the Superman costume once more, this time with Kobe's number 24 on the crest.

The dunk earned Howard a score of 49 in his first appearance in a decade.

The most heartbreaking thing about this tribute?

Kobe had actually agreed to help Howard prepare for the dunk contest.

It's only fitting that he honoured Kobe with his dunk, and we think he did a great job.
