Team USA’s golden star Hilary Knight is one of the greatest hockey players on the planet and she has the numbers and accolades to prove it.

From winning player of the year awards and scoring titles, to capturing an Olympic gold medal and having a day dedicated to her, the Wisconsin Badgers’ all-time leading scorer has accomplished just about everything there is to accomplish in hockey, but she’s focused on something much larger and more important than a scoring title or a league championship and that’s creating a better future for women’s hockey.

Knight crossed enemy lines to Montreal this past season to play with the Montreal Canadiennes in the CWHL after spending the previous two seasons with the Boston Pride in the NWHL, and it was about more than personal ambition. With the recent news of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League set to cease operations, it only proves that Knight’s mission to make women’s hockey more viable more urgent than ever.
