The Vegas Golden Knights played their first NHL game on Friday night and they got off to a great start.

The Dallas Stars took a 1-0 lead into the third period, but after Ben Bishop left the game after taking a shot to the face everything changed in favour of the Golden Knights.

Just past the midway point of the final frame, former Star James Neal got his team on the board for the first time in franchise history.

With time winding down in the third period, James Neal struck again as he potted his second goal of the night to give Vegas their first lead in franchise history and eventually their first win in franchise history, as well.

Since it was the first game in franchise history, a lot of eyes were on the game and plenty of people from the hockey community reached out to congratulate the Golden Knights on their first official NHL victory.

The Vegas Golden Knights will have a chance to start their first multi-game winning streak in franchise history if they can pick up another victory on Saturday night in Arizona.
