Homer Bailey has not been anywhere close to the pitcher he was once over the past four seasons. The 32-year-old was one of the better pitchers in the game from 2011-2013, but after multiple injuries he was reduced to a combined eight games from 2015-2017 and hasn’t had a yearly ERA below 5.50 since 2014.

Bailey got the start for the Cincinnati Reds on Monday and it was a night to forget for him as he gave up 10 hits and five earned runs over 5.1 innings of work, but he also went viral for a brutal balk that involved him attempting to throw a pitch without the ball in his hand.

The Reds pitcher was charged with a balk and he saw his ERA climb 14 points from 6.19 to 6.33 and his WHIP raise four points from 1.59 to 1.63.

As for the Reds, they were completely crushed by the Cleveland Indians on Monday and dropped to 52-67 on the season.
