The Carolina Hurricanes returned home from a four-game road trip this past weekend but didn’t get their six-game home stand started the way they had hoped. After falling short in a shootout against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night, members of the Canes were back on the ice on Sunday, only it wasn’t for a routine practice or morning skate.

This past Sunday, Hurricanes players; including Jaccob Slavin, Lucas Wallmark, Haydn Fleury, Clark Bishop and Valentin Zykov, tried something new as they joined the Carolina Hurricanes Sled Hockey Team on the ice for their practice.

From joining the team in some skating drills to taking part in the team scrimmage, the Hurricanes players got right into things during practice. However, they needed some time to learn how to use the sleds first.

Once they got the hang of things they were good to go and it turned out to be a fun time for everyone involved.

This isn’t the first time the Hurricanes have collaborated with the Carolina Hurricanes Sled Hockey Team and it certainly won’t be the last time.
