Just before the start of the 2021 NHL season, Henrik Lundqvist delivered some crushing news. The veteran Swedish goaltender announced that he would not be able to join the Washington Capitals after finding out he would be requiring open heart surgery.

Lundqvist was getting an aortic valve replacement, aortic root and ascending aortic replacement, and the operation is a super invasive one by nature. The recovery process can vary depending on the person, but it would seem that King Henry’s is going PRETTY well.

After numerous positive updates, hockey fans were thrilled to see Lundqvist back on the ice less than two months after going under the knife. He announced that he was back at the rink, and then shared out this video to his followers.

Everyone, LITERALLY EVERYONE, loves to see this.

While he looks pretty spry for a guy that just underwent invasive surgery, we wouldn’t expect to see him suiting up anytime soon. We’re just happy the man seems healthy, and maybe he’ll come back better than ever when he’s all healed up.
