The Vancouver Canucks have been one of the most surprising teams in the NHL so far this season. Through 18 games, the Canucks sit atop the Pacific Division with 22 points and have scored the third-most goals in the entire league (60).

One player who the Canucks have put more faith in over the last year and a half is goalie Jacob Markstrom. While his goals against average and save percentage isn’t where he’d like it to be through his first 12 appearances, he still owns a 7-3-2 record on the season.

With Vancouver set to start a three-game road trip in New York on Monday night, the 28-year-old unveiled his new mask and it’s simply one of a kind.

Designed by David Gunnarsson, Markstrom’s new mask is a split design and has a different look on each side. The left side of the mask suits the Canucks’ look on the road, while the right side suits their look at home.

We haven’t seen a mask like this before, but we wouldn’t be surprised if more goalies start to take this path going forward.
