The Toronto Blue Jays and the Chicago Cubs don’t play each other very often, but when they do they get quite the turnout.

The Blue Jays open up a three-game series against the Cubs in Chicago on Friday afternoon and it’s their first time at Wrigley Field since the 2005 season. With many fans heading south of the border to experience Wrigley Field for the first time in their lives, some of the Jays players are also taking their first trip to the historic stadium as well.

Josh Donaldson was drafted by the Chicago Cubs back in the 2007 MLB Draft, but was dealt to the Oakland Athletics one year later before he made his MLB debut so he never got to experience the friendly confines of Wrigley Field. However, that all changes on Friday afternoon.

Donaldson shared the photo of himself from his minor league days with the following caption.

"First time playing at Wrigley. The day before I was traded to Oakland our team was suppose to play in Wrigley. That was 2008. Oh yea if you didn't know I was drafted by the Cubs I don't blame you. ESPN called me John Donaldson or just some throw in. #Believeinyourself"

Obviously everything would have gone differently if the Cubs kept Donaldson and never sent him to Oakland, but everything happens for a reason.

As for the man once referred to in the scouting report as “John Donaldson”, he’s done pretty well for himself at the Major League level.
