Hockey fans around the world were stunned on Wednesday night as Team Canada ended up getting bounced in the quarterfinals of the World Juniors after a last-minute comeback victory by Finland. Considering the Canadians had never failed to medal on their home soil and were favourites to compete for the gold medal, it was a tough pill to swallow for all the players and staff involved with the team.

Every player on the roster didn’t shy away from showing their true emotions after the loss, especially goalie Michael DiPietro, who was visibly upset after allowing the game-winning goal in overtime.

Although he spoke to the media right after the game and shared how devastating the loss was to everyone on the team, the Vancouver Canucks prospect shared a heartfelt message with his followers less than 24 hours after being defeated about how proud he is to be Canadian and to represent his country.

DiPietro went through quite the rollercoaster of emotions on Wednesday night as Canadian fans belted his name throughout the night after he made some solid stops and did the same thing at the end of the game after everything was said and done.
