There are a number of ways to get warmed up for a hockey game, but most hockey players participate in pre-game soccer in order to get the blood pumping ahead of a game.

The Winter Classic is no ordinary hockey game though, and before the Sabres and Rangers took the ice for the NHL's annual New Year's Day game, members of the blue shirts decided to play some baseball to get warmed up.

With the game being at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, playing catch was the perfect way to warm up for the game.

Players also had a chance to take some swings in the batting cages on Sunday and Marc Staal proved he's got some power.
