The Columbus Blue Jackets were ousted from the NHL playoffs on Monday evening when they fell at the hands of the Boston Bruins. It marked the end of a Cinderella story for the Jackets, who promptly swept the most feared team in the league just one round earlier.

With eyes set on the prize, the Jackets fell short.

Now Columbus finds themselves in a bit of a pickle with contracts. With big contracts like Sergei Bobrovsky and Artemi Panarin due to expire, many thought the Jackets would be sellers at the deadline. Instead, they bought another expiring contract in Matt Duchene. They made it clear they were going for it.

Now with the future uncertain, but certainly not a Cup victory, Panarin was asked the question he’s been dealing with for months. Will he be back next season?

Panarin kept his answer short and sweet:

Columbus fans likely won’t be happy with that answer as their restless offseason begins. It will be interesting to see what’s in store for the Breadman as he continues to establish himself as an superstar in the league.
