Basketball fans were convinced that Paul George was going to end up with the Los Angeles Lakers last offseason and they continued to think that throughout the course of the previous season, but late Saturday night the 28-year-old shot down any rumours of him going to the Lakers by re-signing with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

While reporters were quick to get the news out on social media, guests at Russell Westbrook’s party in Oklahoma City actually got the original inside scoop as George got up on stage with his point guard and rapper Nas to let everyone know he’s staying put.

As for Westbrook, he was more excited about the news than anyone else.

George's new deal with the Thunder is worth $137 million over four years and it includes a player option on the third year.
