The NBA Draft Lottery is always one of the most highly anticipated non-gameplay events of year in the NBA. It’s where teams that struggled to put W’s on the board during the season open up the chance to draft high. The whole suspense aspect comes from not being sure just how high that draft pick will come.
The 2019 Lottery came with even more eyeballs than most years. With a strong draft class declared, everyone was looking forward to the order. No pick more so than No. 1, however, where generational talent Zion Williamson is almost definitely likely to go.
The New Orleans Pelicans “won” the Zion lottery, and with star player Anthony Davis seemingly on the way out (or at least, he was before this), it couldn’t have come at a better time for the organization.
As you may expect, cameras were on Zion as he found out potentially where his new home would be. As you also may expect, people are really reading into his reaction to the news.
He didn’t give too much away, with some saying that he’s hiding his anger or laughing at the idea of playing there, while others say he looks genuinely happy in the video. It got all sorts of reaction.
