Dominic Turgeon was selected 63rd overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and is hoping to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming an everyday player in the NHL.

The 22-year-old is currently playing in his second season with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins and he's shown a lot of improvement in less than a year's time. After finishing his rookie campaign with six goals and 12 assists for 18 points in 71 games, he's already totaled 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points in 52 games.

The Griffins picked up a 3-2 shootout victory over the Iowa Wild on Sunday night and the lone goal came off Turgeon's stick, which was a thing of beauty.

The goal was a perfect mixture of great hands and patience and to make it even better it sealed the win for his team.

It might not go towards his yearly goal total, but it's certainly worth calling home about.
