The age of the enforcer is seemingly wrapping up in the NHL. While teams used to roster tough guys as part of their team identity, recent years have placed much more of a precedent of speed and skill.

Ryan Reaves is somewhat of an exception.

The Vegas Golden Knights bruiser does contribute on offence, but it’s no secret that some of his greatest value comes from his toughness and willingness to stand up for teammates. It’s made him a fan favourite in Vegas.

While Reaves isn’t afraid to throw down with anyone, the San Jose Sharks are a team that draws a particular amount of ire. From Joe Thornton’s days on the Sharks to Reaves’ everlasting feud with Evander Kane – Reaves despises the Sharks.

On Wednesday, Reaves managed to find the back of the net for his first goal of the year, and it happened to come against the Sharks. After the game, Reaves didn’t try to hide his glee one bit.

The two teams get a bit of a break from each other, as they don’t square off again until April 19. Circle that date on your calendars, Knights vs. Sharks is always sure to bring the fireworks.
