As we learned from Chance The Rapper’s rinkside hockey reporter skit on SNL this past weekend it’s that there’s a lot of players in the NHL with some tough names.
Unless you’re a regular fan some of the names might seem impossible to spell, but for the diehard fans they learn how to spell every last name almost instantly.
Recently, BuzzFeedBlue put some people to the test and had them spell out different NHL players’ names. They were given pictures of different players and were forced to spell their last names on the spot. If they were wrong, they got a bunch of ice cubes shoved down the back of the shirt.
Here’s how it went down.
Names like Jonathan Toews and Alex Ovechkin seem like really easy names for the everyday hockey fan, but for people who don’t follow the NHL on a daily basis they’re actually pretty tough.
While some of the people taking part in the segment managed to get some of them right, the toughest name seemed to be Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Shayne Gostisbehere, as it left them all stumped.
