The Simpsons celebrated its 30th anniversary on December 17, 2019, and fans of the show from around the world celebrated the big day by sharing their favourite moments from the series on social media.

On Tuesday, the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds celebrated in a different way as they announced that they’ll be honouring the series by changing their name to the Springfield Ice-O-Topes.

Shortly after the team released the teaser intro they announced that on February 1, 2020, they’ll be changing their name for one day only and they already have some pretty awesome jerseys ready to go for the big day.

Isotopes was actually one of the team names in the running for the franchise when they relocated to Springfield from Portland, but clearly it didn’t end up winning. However, the people who did vote for that team name will get to live out their dream for one day later this season.
