Sports fans tend to gravitate towards the underdog once their team has been eliminated from the playoffs or a tournament, and that’s exactly what’s happening right now at the World Juniors as hockey fans have started jumping on board the Switzerland bandwagon.

Usually the underdogs tend to gain more fans because a majority of people have already counted them out and are hoping for some sort of Cinderella story, but the Swiss team is genuinely gaining more fans thanks to the personality of their head coach Christian Wohlwend.

The 41-year-old Montreal native became a hit in the hockey world at least year’s tournament when he gave a brutally honest answer about how much better Canada is than Switzerland when it comes to hockey. This year hasn’t been any different as he’s already graced us with some fantastic soundbites, and Thursday he was at it again while talking about his team’s chances of winning gold, not having to play against Canada and much more.

According to Wohlwend, the hockey spirits were tied of the typical gold medal matchups and decided it was time for a change this year. On top of that, he dropped some fantastic quotes about why he always takes the honest approach in life, why it’s important to give as much love as possible, his wife’s lack of hockey knowledge and much more.

It’s nearly impossible not to cheer for Wohlwend and the Swiss team after listening to him speak.
