This year is Vince Carter’s swan song in the NBA, and many of his peers in the league who grew up watching Vinsanity want to make sure that he gets the send-off he deserves. Players including his teammate Trae Young and Canadian Jamal Murray have already voiced their support for getting VC in this year’s dunk contest.

You can add Frederic Weis to the list of interested parties for a VC dunk contest appearance. Who is Frederic Weis? Well, you’d be forgiven for not knowing, since Weis’ claim to fame is getting dunked on.

Pretty sick dunk, though — Weis was the 7-foot French player that Carter jumped over in one of the most iconic dunks of all-time at the 2000 Olympics. The dunk de la mort, as we’ve come to know it.

Can 42-year Vince Carter still get up there like that? It remains to be seen, but considering that his performance at the 2000 dunk contest is one of the greatest ever, it’d be cool to see him at least get the invitation.

And, if he can involve his most infamous dunk victim from two decades ago, that would just be a great way to bring us full circle. We’re guessing Carter has lost more in hops over the last 20 years than Weis has lost in height, but even if VC isn’t clearing another 7-footer any time soon, we’d love to see what they can come up with.

Who wants to see VC back in the dunk contest? 👀👀
