When the championship is on the line, there’s no room for errors.

The KHL is down to its final two teams and the series between SKA Saint Petersburg and Metallurg Mg has been pretty even so far through the first few games.

However, despite the close games, SKA is one victory away from the championship as they currently lead the series 3-1. During Game 3 on Wednesday night, one of the referees made a bad call early on in the game in SKA’s favour and Metallurg Mg’s head coach let the referee know how he felt about his officiating.

It’s a little tough for the referee to tell who is responsible for the high stick in real time, but after watching the replays from multiple angles you can tell that his own teammate’s stick caught him up high.

Metallurg Mg’s coach apparently knew this all along, and hilariously gave the referees a few thumbs up after making the call.

This is like the time Larry Sanders was ejected and gave every referee a thumbs up on his way out.

Luckily for Metallurg Mg their opponent did not end up capitalizing on the power play, but they still ended up losing the game.
