The AHL’s Bakersfield Condors attempted something five years ago at one of their home games that they thought would go over very smoothly, but instead it went entirely wrong.

The team decided it would be a good idea to bring a live condor onto the ice during the national anthem but it didn’t go as planned. Considering a condor is a massive vulture used to a very warm climate, the animal lost it during the pre-game ceremony and wanted no part of it.

On Friday, the team decided to give it another shot as they brought a condor onto the ice during the national anthems. Luckily for them and everyone in attendance, it went much better this time around.

The team had some fun at their own expense by giving the first 2,000 fans in attendance aged 10 and older their very own talking condor figurine.

Everything went as planned for the Condors on Friday night as they blanked the Ontario Reign 2-0 on the special anniversary.
