It’s been a pretty good week to be a sports fan in D.C. considering the Washington Mystics captured their first ever WNBA title and the Washington Nationals booked a trip to the World Series for the first time in franchise history.

On Wednesday night the Washington Capitals hosted the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Caps dedicated the night to the Mystics and their championship run as they had members of the team in attendance to drop the puck for the ceremonial faceoff and to read out the starting lineup inside the locker room before the game.

WNBA Finals MVP Elena Delle Donne had the honours of reading out the starting lineup and she also got to drop the puck for the ceremonial faceoff.

Aerial Powers was also in attendance as she went for the ultimate victory lap as she took a ride around the ice on the Zamboni with the WNBA trophy in hand.

It’s been a good couple of years for D.C. sports fans.
