People around the world were taken aback when they heard the news that Ermias Joseph Asghedom, known best by his professional name Nipsey Hussle, was shot and killed outside of his store in South Los Angeles. The 33-year-old did everything for his community and was extremely respected throughout the music scene, and you could spot him sitting courtside at NBA games and hanging out with players on the court after games.

One person who was really close to Asghedom was fellow Compton native and San Antonio Spurs guard DeMar DeRozan.

DeRozan was recently a guest on “Take It There” with Taylor Rooks and the four-time NBA All-Star reflected on his friendship with Nipsey Hussle and talked about one of the last conversations they ever had, which took place a few weeks before the rapper’s death.

From Kawhi Leonard to LeBron James, players around the NBA paid tribute to Nipsey Hussle in many different ways after he passed away, showing how much of an impact he truly had on all of them and the community.
