Sixty lives were changed on Thursday night at the 2019 NBA Draft as those players heard their name echo throughout the speakers. But what about all the players who don’t end up hearing their name get called? Where do they go from here?

Just ask Fred VanVleet.

The Toronto Raptors point guard has 177 NBA regular season games and 37 playoff games under his belt and has won both an NBA D-League title and NBA title, but he never heard his name called on draft night. Instead, he had to fight his way to the highest level as an undrafted free agent.

Toronto’s gotta keep this energy all summer 2019 😂

As someone who knows what it’s like to get passed over 60 times, VanVleet is someone that any player who goes undrafted can look up to. Before this season, the 25-year-old shared his story about his journey and it’s one that can motivate anyone who gets skipped in the draft.

It’s hard to believe that someone who came up so clutch in the NBA Finals for the Toronto Raptors didn’t even get drafted. It just goes to show you that it’s not about what happens on draft night, it’s about what you do after the draft that matters the most.
