The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired Jake Gardiner from the Anaheim Ducks in 2011 and he went on to play 551 games in a Maple Leafs sweater over eight years.

On Friday, September 6, 2019, the 29-year-old started a new chapter of his career as he signed a four-year, $16.2 million deal with the Carolina Hurricanes.

A few hours after the signing became official, Gardiner took to social media to thank Maple Leafs fans for all their support over the years with a special message.
 

Gardiner scored 45 goals and 200 assists for 245 points in 551 games and also added two goals and 12 points in 26 playoff games.
