Mark Stone was selected 178th overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and he ended up being the biggest steal in the draft and quite possibly one of the biggest draft steals of all-time.
The Winnipeg, Manitoba native played two more seasons in the WHL before joining the Senators franchise, and then spent another two in the AHL before getting called up. But once he made the jump to the NHL he never looked back as he went on to play 366 games in a Sens uniform, scoring 123 goals and 311 points in that span, before he was dealt to the Vegas Golden Knights ahead of the 2019 NHL trade deadline.
Now that Stone is finally settled in with his new team and has his first game as a Golden Knight under his belt, the 26-year-old shared a heartfelt message with Sens fans on Wednesday afternoon thanking them for all the support during his time in Ottawa.
Stone made his Vegas debut at home against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night and finished with a plus-one rating and six shots on goal in the Golden Knights’ 4-1 victory.
