Fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs are generally happy campers at this point in the season. They’ve only lost once in seven games, their offence is firing at all cylinders, and their 12 points in the standings are atop the NHL standings (although they have also played at least one more game than the other teams).

While all is mostly good in Leaf land, there is one glaring blemish that has been sticking it’s ugly head into the minds of Leafs fans since the off-season – the William Nylander contract saga.

Many thought that these contract disputes would have been put to bed by now, especially with Kyle Dubas ensuring fans that the team would be able to afford their young stars. Unfortunately for the Buds, Nylander still remains inactive.

While this issue must be on the minds of Leafs management, coaches, and players, head coach Mike Babcock answered one particular question about Nylander very bluntly.

It’s hard not to interpret that without a bit of an irritated tone. While it’s not clear if Babcock was irritated by the question or Nylander himself (or if this is just another nod to his personality), you have to imagine that it has been the thorn in the Leafs side when it comes to dealing with the media. Pretty much everything else is positive.
