Marcus Stroman wore the city of Toronto on his back, literally, for nearly six seasons, but now it’s time for a fresh start.

The 28-year-old right-handed pitcher was traded to the New York Mets on Sunday evening and now that he’s on a new team he’s decided it’s time to rock a new number, as well. On Monday night the Mets officially revealed Stroman’s new threads, showing he’ll now be rocking the No. 7 on his back.

Stroman has shown nothing but love for the city of Toronto and Blue Jays fans during his time with the team, to the point where he even got part of the city’s skyline tattooed this past offseason, but it’s no surprise that he’s switching numbers since he hinted at it on social media shortly after the trade went through.

Perhaps it also had something to do with the fact that Jeff McNeil currently wears No. 6, or maybe he just wanted that fresh start with a new team.
