Spring means the cold weather is finally behind us (sort of) and the warm summer months are right around the corner. During the springtime you can expect to see flowers start to bloom and the leaves grow back on trees, but with the change in the season means bees are back out and they mean business.

The Cincinnati Reds hosted the San Francisco Giants on Monday afternoon and there was a delay in the game due to a swarm of bees taking over the field.

It’s not the first time a baseball game has been delayed due to bees and it certainly won’t be the last, but the grounds crew got an extra helping hand from Reds utility man Derek Dietrich, who suited up and helped get the bees off the field.

Dietrich had the afternoon off, but decided to put his free time to good use.

The game got underway in no time and before the Reds fans knew it they were on their feet cheering as Cincinnati jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and cruised to a 12-4 victory.
