There are still a lot of NHL players who are still in offseason mode, but Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is not one of them.

The three-time Stanley Cup champion celebrated his 31st birthday on Tuesday back home in Nova Scotia, where he’s been putting in some intense training in his hometown just like he does every summer.

The Cole Harbour native has been working out in Halifax with his old midget coach Brad Crossley for at least the past week and he hasn’t been alone as he’s been joined by some other Halifax natives including Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche and Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins.

The three NHL stars all worked out together last summer as well, so it’s no surprise that they all hit the 85-point mark this past season (MacKinnon 97, Crosby 89, Marchand 85).
