After going back and forth between the NHL and the AHL for four seasons, Sven Baertschi seems to have found a permanent home in the NHL.

The 25-year-old is currently playing in his third full season with the Vancouver Canucks after he was acquired from the Calgary Flames late in the 2014-15 season and he’s done nothing but improve year after year.

During the 2014-15 season, Baertschi played three games with the Canucks and scored two goals. The following season he scored 15 goals in 69 games, and followed up that performance with 18 goals in 68 games last season. This year, the Bern, Switzerland native already has five goals through 17 games, and he’s making sure to make the most out of every one of them.

This season, Baertschi is donating $500 for every goal he scores towards HEROS, a volunteer-driven charity that uses hockey to teach life skills and empower at-risk youth across Canada and he’s already raised $2,500 less than a quarter into the season.

It’s pretty amazing that Baertschi will be able to help change someone’s life in a positive way just by scoring a few goals every now and then and he’s hoping to put up career-highs this year.

Thanks to his hot start to the season Baertschi is on pace to hit the 20-goal mark for the first time in his NHL career, which means he could be donating nearly $10,000 by the end of the season.
