Tuesday, the hockey world was hit with sad news with the passing of legendary goaltender Johnny Bower.

Throughout this week hockey players, fans and media members alike have been remembering the life of Bower, sharing stories that further cemented the Leafs great's reputation as one of the warmest human beings ever to play the game. 

Thursday, the Maple Leafs revealed that they will be honouring Bower by donning the legend's initials on a commemorative patch that will be featured on the team's jerseys and helmets. 

 

 

 

From his signature smile, legendary career moments and his ability to inspire the NHLers of tomorrow, it's quite clear that Bower loved the game of hockey as much as the world of hockey loved Bower.

The Leafs haven't stated yet whether or not the team will wear the patch for the remainder of the season, but here's to hoping that they do!
