Conversations about the NHL adding another franchise in the near future have been heating up over the past month and it’s starting to look more and more likely that we’ll be seeing the 32nd NHL team land in Seattle.

From fans voting on their favourite name for the possible team to coming up with their own jersey and logo designs, Seattle hockey fans are clearly all for getting their own NHL franchise considering they’re fully supporting something that doesn’t even exist yet. Since the news broke that Seattle was making a bid to get an NHL franchise, 13 different possibly team names have emerged and the fan favourite seemed to be ‘Kraken’.

However, while fans seemed to be all over ‘Kraken’ as the team’s name, it turns out there’s a few other names ahead of it in the race and the one leading the way is probably not the one you’d expect to see as the favourite.

According to Bovada.com, if Seattle does get an NHL franchise it’s most likely going to be called the Seattle Emeralds or the Seattle Totems, even though the fans were all in on a the Seattle Kraken. However, these are just odds coming out of Las Vegas and there’s still plenty of time for those to change leading up to any sort of official announcement.
