The Kentucky Thoroughblades were a minor league professional team that played in the AHL from 1996-2001 and spent time as the AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, Florida Panthers and the San Jose Sharks.

During their existence the team spent most of its time as the AHL affiliate of the Sharks, before making a move to Cleveland from 2001-2006, followed by a stint as the Worcester Sharks from 2006-2015, and ultimately becoming the San Jose Barracuda in 2015. As a way to honour the original franchise that played in Lexington, Kentucky, the Kansas City Royals’ Single-A affiliate the Lexington Legends will rock some incredible jerseys on August 10 when they play the Kannapolis Intimidators.

Instead of rocking their usual jerseys for the event, the players will take the field in some awesome uniforms inspired by Kentucky’s first-ever minor professional hockey team.
