Hockey fans are going to be hearing a lot of the last name “Hughes” over the next two decades.

The Vancouver Canucks added to their impressive group of prospects by selecting Quinn Hughes with the seventh overall pick at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Hughes, a defenceman, is the older brother of Jack Hughes, who’s projected to be the first overall pick in the 2019 Draft.

One of the teams that passed over on Quinn at the draft was the Arizona Coyotes, who shocked the hockey world when they selected centre Barrett Hayton. That allowed Filip Zadina to fall to the Red Wings at six before the Canucks were able to select the first defenceman selected after first overall pick Rasmus Dahlin.

Hughes should've gone to the desert regardless, because after this video we’re about to show you, you’re going to see why Hughes is essentially a road runner on skates.

The 18-year-old drafted out of the University of Michigan was widely regarded as the best skater in the draft. His stride is effortless, and his moves out on the ice will make you think he’s constantly pressing the speed burst button when he's dancing on his edges in the opposition's end.

Thanks to Matt Foulger from Reddit Hockey and Twitter, we have one of the best mash-up videos you’ll ever see featuring highlights of Hughes skating circles around his opponents along with some of the more memorable sound effects from the popular cartoon show.

“He’s often like the road runner and the defenders are like the coyote.”

Truly, a work of art. You’ll notice a few subtle changes like swapping “Warner Bros.” to Hughes Bros, with the “W” in the logo replaced with an “H.”

No decision has been made whether Hughes will be going back for his sophomore season, but after watching just a snippet of his play, you can see why many Canucks fans are hoping the team signs him to an entry-level contracts in hopes of making the Canucsk out of training camp.

Could you imagine the Canucks going from the Sedin brothers to the Hughes brothers?
